Job Title: Teacher – Homework Support & Test Preparation

Rate: $45/hour
Work Schedule: 1 to 2 hours per day, up to 4 days per week during afterschool program hours (between 3:00 PM–5:00 PM; varies by site)
Note: Hours may increase during test prep season based on student needs and program priorities.
Paid monthly; no overtime or holiday pay
Evaluation Timeline:

Position Summary
The Teacher – Homework Support & Test Prep provides direct academic instruction, focusing on helping students complete their homework accurately and independently. Teachers also offer targeted support in preparation for upcoming standardized testing periods. This role is central to our academic success model, ensuring that students receive individualized support, while fostering long-term skills in comprehension, retention, and test-taking strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver academic support to students in small groups or 1:1 formats, ensuring they understand and complete homework assignments correctly.
Develop and implement customized strategies to support students during testing seasons (ELA, Math, State exams, etc.).
Assess students' academic needs and adapt instruction to address gaps in knowledge or skill.
Maintain regular communication with school-day teachers, administrators, and the program coordinator to align support strategies and identify areas of academic concern.
Provide students with supplementary practice materials to improve frequency, accuracy, and efficiency in targeted subjects.
Participate in ongoing evaluation of student progress and submit informal academic reports or updates as needed.
Maintain an inclusive and motivating environment that promotes independent learning and confidence.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required (Education or related field preferred)
NYS teaching certification a plus
Experience:
At least 2 years of classroom teaching or small-group academic tutoring
Familiarity with Common Core Standards and NYS Testing expectations
Experience supporting elementary and/or middle school students academically

Job Title: Program Coordinator

Paid monthly as a part-time employee (no holiday or overtime pay).
Typical hours: Monday to Friday, 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM (up to 23 hours/week).
The schedule may vary depending on school/camp hours.
Evaluation & Supervision
Evaluation checkpoints: 30, 60, and 90 days for new hires; every 6 months afterward.
Reports to: Site Supervisor, Site Director, Program Coordinator.
Position Overview
The Program Assistant supports day-to-day afterschool operations and helps create a safe, enriching, and engaging space for youth participants. This role combines logistical support, compliance monitoring, and staff coordination to ensure programs run smoothly and meet organizational and city agency standards (DYCD, DOE, DOH).
Qualifications
Education

Minimum 4 years in youth development, education, or program coordination.

Facilitate onboarding and training of new staff and volunteers.
Monitor compliance with all DYCD, DOH, and organizational policies.
Co-develop curriculum and enrichment activities alongside Education Specialists.
Attend leadership and PTA meetings (as approved).

Position Summary
The Activity Specialist is responsible for leading high-quality, engaging enrichment activities that align with youth development goals. This role supports children in grades K–8, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and creative space. Activity Specialists model positive behavior and collaborate with staff to deliver impactful programming in alignment with DYCD guidelines.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred OR currently enrolled in college with relevant training/certification in your area of specialty.
Experience:
3+ years working with youth (K–8), preferably in education, the arts, or community programming.
Familiarity with NYS Common Core and NYC Arts Blueprint is a plus.

Group Leaders are energetic and reliable youth workers who support daily programming for elementary and middle school students. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, you will guide students through scheduled activities, model positive behavior, and help create a safe and engaging after-school environment.

Assist with program logistics: attendance, transitions, supplies, and room setup.
